A fascinating archaeological excursion begins in the comfort of your choice of vehicle. Our route takes us to the most prominent ancient site of Crete which illustrates the splendid pre-Greek cultures, the Minoan civilization, which flourished from the fifth millennium B.C. onwards. Your private guide will walk you through the site situated on a forested hill 5 kilometres southeast of Heraklion. Our tour continues to the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, where exhibits and wall frescoes from the site are displayed along with exhibits covering the entire course of Cretan civilization from the Neolithic period to the end of the Roman era.

In Heraklion city you will have the opportunity to visit many significant ancient attractions like the Venetian fortress Koules. Admire St. Titus church, patron of the city and Venetian Loggia, visit St.Marc’s basilica which houses the Art Gallery and take a rest next to the Morosini Fountain, at one of the cafes where you must try our local specialty, bougatsa. In the Historical Museum of Crete experience the rich Byzantine, Medieval, Historical and Folklore collections. Here visitors can also see the painting of El Greco, native world-famous Greek painter Domenicos Theotokopoulos.

A great family excursion to Cretaquarium is optional. Glimpse local Mediterranean marine life in Europe’s newest and best marine aquarium, which is part of THALASSOKOSMOS (Hellenic Centre for Marine Research), the largest marine research, technology and entertainment complex in the Mediterranean. Your tour may be completed in Gournes, where, according to your wishes, you could enjoy a traditional meal at a quaint local restaurant with homemade, Cretan dishes.
